BlueNest Care Recruitment Ltd was founded in Sheffield by Eric Kalongo, a care sector professional who worked as a frontline carer and witnessed first-hand the chronic staffing crisis facing homes and the hardworking carers who deserved better support. What began as a local mission has grown into a national ambition: to become the UK's most trusted care staffing agency.

Where we started

A problem experienced from the inside

Eric Kalongo did not build BlueNest Care from a boardroom. He built it from the care home floor, drawing on his own experience as a frontline carer. He worked the same last-minute calls, covered the same understaffed shifts, and experienced first-hand the pressures faced daily by exhausted care teams across the UK care sector.

What stood out to him was not a lack of committed carers, but rather a fragmented system that failed to connect them effectively with the care homes that needed them most. Capable and dedicated carers were often left waiting for shifts, while care home managers relied on costly national agencies that had limited understanding of their residents, values, or local culture.

BlueNest Care was founded in 2026 to address this disconnect, beginning in Sheffield, where the need was both urgent and deeply personal, and where building strong local relationships made the greatest impact.
